A Holder of Places.6/4/2019 The notion of a woodhouse is simple: a shelter to protect and conserve treelike materials until their next purpose is called. Allegedly, it has been a word since 1275 by some Middle Englishman or Middle Englishwoman. Maybe it was even approved by a Middle Committee. A woodhouse is a space of possibilities; wood can found structures, frame art and even fuel light and warmth. Old growth can be culled to promote new growth when harvested moderately in delicate balance. A woodhouse, stocked, can be a place from which to draw and make. But what is the bigger picture? How would wood generalize?
So, too, must these possibilities be given shelter until called: abstractly giving rise to the notion of a wouldhouse. It is now a word since June 4th, 2019 by a reluctant Californian. It is also the namesake for the van that will host my travels and new endeavors for the foreseeable future. While I pursue the forests for the "woulds", anything that needs to be shared will be shared here. If you have any questions: justaxe@wouldhouse.com -Lucas |
